The film Centurion is going to be in theaters in the fall this year, giving the Centurion Costumes the chance of more visibility than usual. The people of Roman times are both intriguing and well known, and the easily recognizable features of those characters makes it a good choice when dressing up.

Even though there is more creativity to be had when dressing up as a Gladiator, and a sheet and laurel wreath portray the instantly recognizable visage of a Roman Senator, the true heroes of the age were the Centurions of Rome’s powerful army. Rome’s Legions enforced the legendary Pax Romana running from Persia to Britain, and although the government of the Roman Empire kept everything going smoothly, it was still the Legions that gave it its primacy.

There are four main elements to making the costume look good. The first is the clothes, which includes the chest piece and knee length tunic. The instantly identifiable helmet with its feathers is important. Since one has to look the part all over, the distinctive Roman sandals are needed. Then of course the sword and the shield. To give authenticity they should be the Gladius, or Roman short sword, and a Scutum, or small round shield.

The costume can be made distinctive with further additions like a cape, more weapons, greaves to protect the shins, and armbands. A javelin could also be carried around, but that would probably be a bit much.

It makes an excellent choice as half of a couple’s costume as well. With the man dressing as the Centurion, his partner has a choice of dressing up as one of the beautiful Roman ladies or as one of the uncontrollable barbarians contesting the Romans. According to OntheFlix.com the official New Moon Movie Trailer is going to be released on the 14th of August, 2009.

According to my sources the first officia movie trailer for the highly anticipated “New Moon” film is set to be shown in theaters during the previews before the feature presentation of the new family,musical, movie, “Bandslam” which is due out on August 14,2009. This “Bandslam” movie just hit the marketing jackpot if a lot of “Twilight Saga” fans hear about this. Heck if nothing else, they’ll at least try and find out more of what “Bandslam” is about because of the attention from “New Moon” or maybe not. Who knows? I do know it can’t hurt the film.

I’ve already seen a lot of sites promoting “Bandslam” ,and it’s movie trailer just because of the “New Moon” trailer news so it’s already helping. “Bandslam’s” plot is about a 16 yr old boy who has to relocate to another school when his mom gets a new job in New Jersey. He eventually forms a band,and competes in a major band contest entitled none other than , “Bandslam”. It will star :Alyson Michalka, (Highschool Musical star)Vanessa Hudgens, Gaelen Connell, and Lisa Kudrow.

They have targeted “Bandslam” because it’s audience will most likely be the same demographics that “New Moon” will have for the most part. Also Summit Entertainment is the movie studio for the “Twilight Saga” films and “Bandslam” so there’s another correlation for you. Basically Summit Entertainment wants to help promote it’s less high profile movie with it’s more high profile movie with the correct demographics so they can in turn make more money on both fronts. I say Kudos. I just wish I was in on it. I will post a “Bandslam” movie trailer later on, today.
