You’ve loved the movies ever since you were a kid, and now you’ve vowed to yourself, “I want to be a Director.” Well then, get prepared for the challenge of your life. Directing is viewed in most ways to be the trickiest job in show business, and that’s even if you can find work as a director in the first place. The first step toward becoming a director is refining the filmmaking process on the amateur level. You can begin the learning process by going to a bookstore to buy a few books about film, that give you a clearer picture on what is required in the filming process, highlighting mainly on the concepts of a movie like editing, light and sound. However, reading alone would not provide you with every piece of information that you need to know, so you have to undergo 3 different options, each one difficult as it is. You can move to Los Angeles (or determine if films are shot in your current location) and either volunteer or take minimum wage to work as a “production assistant” or p.a. on a film shoot. This is generally where a number of directors started out, working in the lowest position while they get the knowledge that they ought to learn to create their own movie and analyze from the experience they went through if they are still committed to pursue their intention to be a director. If you get by the trial by fire of serving as whipping boy (or girl) for the ego-fueled personalities of Tinseltown, you can acquire the skills and develop the contacts that will allow you entr?e into the directing world. The next step is not as tedious as the first, however, it is less likely to provide many possibilities for triumph, and that would be to study in film school. The school where you learn about filmmaking will give you more input on how to ceate a movie that you have observed in typical individual shoots but it only enhances what talent you already have. It doesn’t totally prepare you for teh big world of filmmaking, and as an outcome, once you’re done, you still have to do the undesirable job as people in the industry have started before you. The 3rd selection, which is usually practiced by most film wannabe filmmakers these days in online distribution and digital video is creating your own screenplay then organizing your personal crew (if you’re short on cash, talk to your pals who might be interested to volunteer) and proceeding to shoot your own movie, and though it might seem bizarre, a lot of the thriving directors in Hollywood got their big break this way, by getting a camera and going ahead with it; whatever direction you think will assist you most will pave the way for you to achieve your desire that you have pondered on becoming a director.

Many colleges require or suggest that their incoming freshmen do some critical reading prior to arriving on campus. Among the most often suggested readings for freshmen are the following.
LA Times columnist Steve Lopez wrote “The Soloist” about a homeless musician who changed his entire outlook on life. The musician was a former Julliard student whose schizophrenia led him away from the stage and onto Skid Row. Lopez put his head together with both doctors and musicians in order to improve musician Nathaniel Ayers’ life.
”Zeitoun”, authored by David Eggers, chronicles the struggles of a man who chose to remain in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina to protect his home . Zeitoun was among the brave folks who remained stayed } in New Orleans to protect his home but ended up in a far different situation than the others. Accused of being a terrorist , Zeitoun’s experence became what the venerable New York Times called a ”great narrative.”
“This I Believe” (Jay Allison and Dan Gediman, editors). The title comes from the name of an NPR program hosted by Edward R. Murrow in the 1950′s and the present-day version of it hosted by Jay Allison that inspired this essay collection. Everyday American authors share what personal credos they live by, usually by way of an anecdote that molded their beliefs . Included are essays by Gloria Steinem and Warren Christopher, to name just a few.
“The Omnivore’s Dilemma” by Michael Pollan. When you sit down to dinner after reading this book, it’s entirely possible that you’ll see the food you consume in a new light . The subject of the book is the American food chain, specifically corporate farming and the growth in the consumption of organic foods . Also discussed is the process of hunting and gathering for yourself instead of relying on the marketplace to provide sustenance for you.
“Enrique’s Journey” (Sonia Nazario, author). The incredible story of a 17-year-old illegal immigrant’s trip from Honduras to the United States in search of his mother gives readers much to think about. This Pulitzer Prize-winning book will soon become an HBO series .
Whether you educate yourself at a traditional college or earn an online degree, books like those above will be a big part of your enjoyment and intellectual growth.

The iPad from Apple has a lot of people very excited and perhaps quite rightly has been billed as an all singing, all dancing next generation product. Barely on the market for two months and reports suggest that sales have already passed 2 million units.
Anyone reading this, is more likely than not, going to know what the iPad can do already, so for the purposes of fun, let’s take a look at what else the iPad may be capable of, both now and in the future.
Clocking in at a weight of 1.5 pounds with a screen size of 9.7 inches, the iPad is just half an inch thick, making it perfect to take on vacation with you for all your internet and email requirements while you are away. But, aside from watching movies on the plane and listening to your favourite tunes, your new ipad could come in very handy while you are globetrotting .
- How often have you been on vacation and fancied a game of table tennis? You get down to the hotel’s table only to find that the paddles (or bats if you prefer) have the rubber grips peeling off the sides or worse still have been completely eradicated , leaving you with that hollow wooden feeling. iPad may not have been designed with table tennis in mind, but it will be far more effective than the paddles you have been left with.
- If you are on a winter sports holiday and all of your equipment has been cruelly stolen, your new iPad could make a handy makeshift snowboard or better still if you have 2 iPad and a couple rubber bands you have a readymade pair of hi tech snow shoes!
The 9.7 inches of screen will also substantially deflect any known poison dart; just remember to wipe the screen before next usage to prevent illness and possibly death.
- Back at home, the iPad will eventually make all other household appliances redundant and possibly allow you to rent out space for some much needed extra income.
- Start selling other domestic items too, iPad will double up as tea tray and if left on for long enough (it can run for approx 10 hours on one charge) it will neatly press all your clothes, so out with the iron!
- There are also unconfirmed reports of a dongle upgrade coming soon that will turn your iPad into a “Back to the Future” style hover board, meaning you can sell your car or family vehicle and hop on your iPad and get to work that way. It is believed you will be able to steer either in portrait or landscape!
So, I think you will agree that the iPad is much, much more than a glorified portable computer. The future is here!

going to a book sale can be a extremely fun experience. You get the thrill of bargain shopping, along with the ability to purchase media items that will entertain you and your family.
The first step is to find a used book sale that you and your friends want to go to . You can first look at your library and see when or if they host one . Second your can search on the internet to find ones that are near to you and your friends .
The Second step is to make sure you and your friends bring boxes and bags your may use. Some of these book sale events are just like yard sales, your need to pay with cash (and sometimes check ). With some extremely large sales your can even pay with credit cards. You also may want to bring a box or bag with your to hold your books. Some book sale s provide these, but it’s better to bring your own supply in the event there is not enough available for you and your friends to use.
The third and final step, make a reminder to go to the sale. These are great used book sales to find and missing one may mean that you and your friends have to wait up to 6 months to attend another money saving event. It is easy to forget about the dates, so its a excellent idea to set calender reminders. Some non profits and libraries also have email reminders that they send before the sale to remind people to come to the next sale .

After the first installment, Twilight, many of the books fans were a little dissapointed with the movie conversion. So it’s not suprising that despite the massive media hype about the new release, there were still many new movie book fans who were more than a little skeptical of the latest movie release.
Having said that, it seems that the new movie New Moon, has been much more well thought out, and fans of the book series are giving good reports on what some thought would be another dissapointment.
It’s still a little too early to tell, but it’s looking like New Moon will get an overall positive reception at the cinemas.
