WHy You Don’t Need To Let Your Children Go Trick Or Treating For Them To Have The Best Halloween They Have Ever Had
Trick or Treating is a long established tradition at Halloween but not all parents are comfortable with their children taking part. Not everyone is ready for their young children to go off without grownup supervision and knock on strangers doors. Luckily there are plenty of alternatives for Halloween this year which will still ensure they have a magical time.
#1 Host your own Halloween party:
There’s no need to go trick or treating if you are having a Halloween party at your household, right?
Why not make it extra special and get in haunted decorations (spider webs, pumpkins and even ghoulish tombstones). Your kids will love the thought of decorating the house and you can even get them involved with choosing the food and drink and sending out haunted invitations.
They will still want to dress up for Halloween so why not consider a themed party. Dress up parties for Halloween involving movie characters and superheroes are becoming more and more popular for Halloween and some examples could include a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Costume, Pinhead Costume or even a Curious George Costume .
#2 Visit a Costume Parade At Your Local Mall:
Costume parades are all the rage in most towns and you can see why. They will often hold costume competitions (this is a real thrill for the children as they get to show off their costumes and perhaps even win a prize). There is often amusement laid on and lots of spooky characters in ghost and goblin outfits to entertain your children all evening. It is safe and fun.
#3 Receive a Visit From the Headless Horseman
This one can be achieved by downloading some spooky Halloween music onto your mp3 player and setting it to play in one of the side rooms. Set up your pumpkins and scary decorations and while you are preparing these you can lay the scene for the haunted room. Let slip that you know of a story of a headless horseman who is known to come round your neighbourhood on Halloween. He slips in univited and sits down waiting for little children to enter the room. A little later you can slip out of the room and set the music playing softly. This is sure to get them believing in a spooky Halloween and is really good fun for older children – perhaps a bit scary for younger folk though.
As you can see from my tips, you do not have to let your children visit strangers houses this Halloween. You can give them just as much fun and excitement by hosting a party, going to a costume parade or fashioning your house into a haunted castle.
Have fun this Halloween!
