Mix Blu-ray and 3D And You’ve Got a Winner

Blu-ray includes 3D to its list of specs as evidenced by the recent release of Hollywood movies in 3D. 3D is finally here and the latest hardware makes it an amazing experience.
Blu-ray now supports the latest 3D movies with superior technology. The logical format is based on the existing Blu-ray audio/video format, but has been extended to provide for 3D video and 3D menus. Unfortunately, scores of of you will need to replace your AV gear to fully enjoy this new format. If you are using software to play your Blu-ray movies, then a simple software update is probably all that is obligatory. Blu-ray 3D player software will require a Blu-ray drive that is capable of 2X or faster read speeds. Since twice the data is needed for 3D, older Blu-ray players that are slower than 2X will not work.
The new spec allows for 3D menus and navigation interface. Menu and subtitle graphics and text can be defined to appear on a plane that is offset from the screen. You can specify the plane of the previews to appear to be closer or further in distance. A little 3D magic gives the text that 3D look.
